As you well know, new siding is probably the most important home improvement project you will ever have done. It will also be one of the most expensive. This means it is something to take very seriously and prepare for as you would any large event or purchase. Regardless of why you are getting new siding– aesthetic upgrade or practical necessity–planning and preparing will help to encourage your project’s success. Below are some handy tips on what you can do to get ready.

How To Prepare Your Home For New Siding

While the preparations for getting your Denver home sided are not very extensive–getting them done benefits you and ensures the safety of those working on your home.

Prepare the Outside of Your Home For Siding Construction

The work when getting siding replaced is primarily done outside. If there is interior damage from failed or faulty siding, you will of course, need to get this repaired first. Since siding is done outside, it is recommended that the outside of your home be clean and free or clutter. This means removing all outdoor furniture: lawn chairs, tables, ornaments, lights and plant boxes to name a few. This will help your installation go faster and protect your outdoor belongings as well. Also, you may need to get trees trimmed up if they look like they will interfere.

Prepare the Inside of Your Home For Siding Construction

While no work is being done on the interior of your home–there are still a few things to do to prepare for an imminent siding job. Be sure to secure any wall hangings since the vibration from siding installations has been known to knock pictures, frames and mirrors loose from time to time. Also move shelves and furniture away from exterior walls. Finally, be sure to cut power to your exterior lights to prevent a worker from getting hurt. Sometimes you may need to flip other breakers–so be sure to ask your contractor.
