Project Overview
This exterior renovation in Windsor was completed by Scottish Home Improvements to transform a home with failing Masonite siding into a true forever home. The existing materials were deteriorating and no longer providing adequate protection, prompting the homeowners to reimagine the exterior entirely. Their goal was to create a dream home within the neighborhood they already loved—one that felt elevated, cohesive, and built to last.
Scope of Work
The failing Masonite siding was removed and replaced with James Hardie Evening Blue lap siding, paired with Hardie® fascia and soffit for durability and clean architectural lines. Woodtone single siding was installed in the gables, and decorative wood beam corbels were added to introduce warmth and character. All windows were upgraded to Pella Lifestyle Series windows, and a new ProVia entry door was installed. The front elevation was further enhanced with newly built railings, stone-and-cedar-wrapped columns, and a stone wainscot. A bay window was cut into an area where no window previously existed, resulting in one of the most impactful transformations of the project. A HardieWrap® weather barrier was also installed to improve moisture protection and overall performance.
Design & Installation Process
The design focused on blending refined curb appeal with a welcoming, long-term vision for the home. The Evening Blue siding provides a timeless yet distinctive base, while the natural wood accents, stone details, and architectural enhancements create depth and balance. Every design choice was made with longevity in mind—both aesthetically and structurally—while also improving fire resistance and weather protection. Careful planning and execution were required to integrate the new bay window and ensure all elements felt original to the home.
