Project Overview
This exterior remodel in Breckenridge, Colorado focused on transforming an aging home with outdated vinyl siding into a modern, fire-resilient mountain residence. The homeowners wanted an exterior that felt contemporary while still fitting the alpine aesthetic of the surrounding neighborhood. In addition to a full siding remodel, the project included the installation of two new Pella windows to improve both performance and appearance.
Scope of Work
The existing vinyl siding was fully removed and replaced with James Hardie primed lap siding and trim, paired with Hardie® fascia and soffit for long-term durability. A HardieWrap® weather barrier and foam insulation were installed to improve moisture protection and energy efficiency. To enhance fire resistance—an important consideration in mountain communities—stacked stone was added at the garage, providing both protection and architectural depth.
Design & Installation Process
The design direction centered on a modern-contemporary look that still respected the mountain character of Breckenridge homes. Clean lap lines, bold trim details, and a restrained color palette were selected to create a refined “modern mountain” aesthetic. The siding and trim were painted using Sherwin-Williams in Tricorn Black, delivering a dramatic, high-contrast finish that feels both current and timeless. Careful attention was given to installation details to ensure performance in harsh alpine weather conditions.
Results & Impact
As shown in the before-and-after images below, this Breckenridge home underwent a dramatic exterior transformation. What was once dated vinyl siding has been replaced with a bold, modern mountain façade that enhances both protection and curb appeal. The use of fire-resistant materials and stacked stone significantly improved the home’s resilience—helping the homeowners meet insurance requirements and reduce wildfire-related risk. Beyond performance, the visual impact is immediate: clean lines, a refined color palette, and a contemporary mountain aesthetic that fits seamlessly within the surrounding neighborhood.
